Orano Med Theranostics
Orano Med has developed new processes for producing high-purity lead-212, a rare radioactive isotope. Lead-212 is currently at the heart of promising research projects in nuclear medicine to develop new treatments against cancer. The innovative approach, known as targeted alpha therapy (TAT), recognizes and destroys cancer cells while limiting the impact on nearby healthy cells.
The Animal Caretaker is responsible for the daily care and maintenance of laboratory animals, maintaining a clean and healthy environment for the animals, and assisting technicians with animal-related procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitoring, handling, and care for research animals; including providing feed, water, enrichment, health checks and cage changes.
- Preparation for incoming animals and acceptance/unboxing of new animals.
- Maintain study records and preclinical research activity on each research animal
- Assist with preclinical experiments (euthanasia & necropsies as needed)
- Animal healthcare, preparation, and follow-up (monitoring, tagging, weighing, and calipering)
- Experiment preparation: Setting up AGC racks, prepping hoods, and labeling tubes/weigh boats.
- Assist with the receipt, stocking, and maintenance of supply inventories.
- Clean room facility maintenance
- Handle and dispose of radioactive materials.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures when handling animals
RequirementsAll candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher-level position.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma (or equivalent)
- At least two (2) years’ related experience
Required Skills & Competencies
- Knowledge of and experience with common laboratory animals.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
