Orano Med Theranostics

Orano Med has developed new processes for producing high-purity lead-212, a rare radioactive isotope. Lead-212 is currently at the heart of promising research projects in nuclear medicine to develop new treatments against cancer. The innovative approach, known as targeted alpha therapy (TAT), recognizes and destroys cancer cells while limiting the impact on nearby healthy cells.


Orano Med is seeking a Pre-Clinical Research Associate to support the scientific research performed as part of Orano Med Pre-Clinical Research and Development.


Major Duties and Responsibilities

Under general supervision, the Research Associate will perform a variety of technical tasks including but not limited to:

  • Provides daily routine care for research animals: Monitoring, handling and care for research animals; including providing feed, water, health checks and cage changes.
  • Animal health-care, preparation and follow-up (monitoring, tagging, weighing, and calipering).
  • Perform preclinical experiment (injection, bleeding, necropsies).
  • Assist with the receipt, stocking and maintenance of supply inventories.
  • Handle radioactive materials.
  • May perform simple surgeries, pre-, peri- and post-operative observations.
  • Clean room facility maintenance and experiment preparation.
  • Responsible for coordinating with supervisors on operational and technical duties
  • Maintains study records and preclinical research activity in the Orano Med animal facility.

All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma with 2-3 years of related work experience. Prefer Associates Degree with 0-2 years of related work experience. Knowledge of GLP environment and procedures.
  • Working experience in Specific Pathogen Free (SPF) facilities.
  • Knowledge of SOPs and GLP quality assurance standards pertaining to research facility.
  • Knowledge of the Animal Welfare Act and the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals.
